Our History
Diversified was established in 1984 by our founder, Dr. Salvatore Gruttadauria, AuD. Dr. Sal, as his patients call him, is an Audiologist and Speech/Language Pathologist who was motivated by his dad, Salvatore Gruttadauria, Sr.
Sal Sr. had a severe to profound hearing loss that first began while in the Navy in WWII, when his aircraft carrier, the USS Ticonderoga, was hit by kamikazes and suffered extensive damage. Sal Sr. was lucky to survive, but suffered permanent hearing loss secondary due to the extensive noise from the explosions. (You can read about Dr. Sal’s dad here )
As life went on, Sal Sr. became profoundly hearing impaired and without the help of hearing aid technology, he would have lost his communication abilities. His struggles and triumphs were the inspiration for Dr. Sal’s entire career.
When Diversified was founded 39 years ago, Dr. Sal, with his dad in mind, wanted a facility that would provide exceptional rehabilitation and audiology services. The dream was to provide quality, state of the art care, but in a compassionate, friendly environment. Our patients tell us that we have done just that.
